Every time I visit Kauai, this spot is what I look forward to the most. It's always been my favorite place to eat! Their Smiley's Chicken is hands-down the best, and the staff is always so kind and helpful--always ready with great recommendations. Right now, they're only doing takeout, and I'm not sure when they'll return to dine-in. When it was open for sit-down, it was a small space but had a cozy, welcoming vibe. It's not ideal for big groups, but absolutely perfect for a relaxed meal. A must-visit every time!

We went to Smiley's straight off the plane! I saw this restaurant come up on Yelp! when I was looking for places to eat while in Kauai. It did not disappoint! We got the chicken katsu and the the teriyaki chicken. Both of the dishes we incredible!!! However, I knocked a star off because the wait time, when we were the only people in line took quite a long time - almost 25 minutes. It was fresh and delicious, but the wait was unexpected for our two food items. We highly recommend Smiley's!

First meals back on island was so Ono, cravings satisfied! Garlic shrimp was so flavorful and juicy and hubby loved the generously saucy Loco moco. Mahalo Smiley's

The best recommendation we had!!!!! This hole in a wall restaurant is fire and probably the best meal I had! Unfortunately there is no seating which is totally fine just be prepared to eat in your car or drive to a nearby park to eat it! I got the katsu sandwich with cheese and omg it was so good!!!! Definitely satisfied my pregnant belly! It was hot crispy and just a really good sandwich. We also got the steak, rice and Mac! Steak was cooked perfectly the only downfall would be a better knife to cut it with lol. It was a bit of a struggle!!! But overall definitely recommend this restaurant it was just a really great meal. The service was really good too the lady at the counter was wonderful!

This local restaurant does not have any interior seating area and so it is made for as a grab and go only type of restaurant. No worries though, because the food here is so good, it is worth the wait to take home and feast. We ordered their Smiley's chicken and garlic shrimp combo and Kalbi and Shrimp combo. Wow! It was a very generous portion and everything was amazingly fresh. Smiley's chicken is marinated and deep fried to a perfect crisp. It was full of flavor. The shrimp was covered in tasty melted butter and garlic. They gave lots of shrimp. The service here is fast and friendly. This is a must try place if you love local Hawaiian food.

If your looking for some ono local food Smiley's is the place to go! Food is killer! But, it's take out only and just a walk up window to order so, you can do like the locals and eat in the car and tailgate. We went twice on our visit, and at dinner they had a full band playing in the packing lot with everyone having their truck tailgates open and just eating and vibing out to the jams. We loved the garlic chicken, super flavorful and the special prime rib was ono! Big local style portions but also big local style prices. But, that's the price you pay to be in Hawaii, not just Kauai. All the islands are pricey. Can't wait to go back to Smileys next time I go back home to the islands.

What a lucky find! We came here after an ATV tour on a whim and it was one of our favorite places on the entire trip. Food was fabulous (garlic shrimp, fried chicken, moco loco) and just as we ordered, a band pulled up and started to play. They were so good and so happy to be playing together and with the clear night sky and the stars shining down, it was a perfect impromptu evening.

Food is amazing! As simple as it gets when it comes to Hawaiian food. You want, you go there, get in line to order at one window, you get a buzzer and pick your food up in the next window. But omg the quality and flavors. We did garlic shrimp and kbbq ribs with Mac salad.... Yummmmm Got here on a Friday at 11:15am and about 3 ppl ahead of us to order. We got a a buzzer to tell us when to pick up our food. As I said, simply and simply good food. A must stop.

I wish there was a place to enjoy the food after we ordered but no complaints with the food. Sooo ono! (We did drive to a nearby park and ate along the water in our car!) The kalbi ribs side were sooo tasty. And the Lau Lau was moist and flavorful. The chicken long rice with it was good too. Love plate lunches and could've eaten this every day!
